I’d like to get involved. How can I help?
Volunteers are welcome! Please visit our volunteer page to contact us and we will get you signed up.
How do I register for Run It Like It’s Hot?
Simply visit our registration site: https://runitlikeitshot.webconnex.com/mudrun2017. All registrations must take place through this system.
I’m not all that athletic. Will I be able to do this?
This is a fun event with family and friends. Whether you are running as a group, or tackling it alone, chances are you’ll make it through the course feeling incredibly psyched that you did it. Obstacles vary in size and degree of challenge. If at any time you don’t feel comfortable attempting an obstacle, no sweat, just circumvent it and move ahead. But don’t be surprised if you get offered a hand or a boost from a fellow runner. This event tends to bring out the camaraderie in everyone.
Is there an age limit for participants?
There are actually two courses: 1) Ages 12 to Adult, and 2) Ages 6 to 11. If you wish for your child under 12 to run the Adult Course with you, no problem. Just be sure you are with them at all times. So what if you are an adult and you want to run the Kid Course with your child? Same thing applies - your child is responsible for keeping an eye on you, and should keep you with them at all times. (No lost parents on the Kid Course allowed).
What should I wear?
Comfort is key. Appropriate running shoes a must. Athletic gloves are highly recommended. Keep in mind that there will be MUD! On the other hand, we encourage you to have fun with this. Come dressed in your favorite costume or perhaps run with a group as a theme. Prizes will be awarded for Best Costume, etc. during the day.
The first run will begin at 7:00 a.m., with additional waves starting every 30 minutes. When registering, select your preferred wave time. While we will make every effort to honor your honor your request, wave assignments are made on a first come first serve basis so be sure to sign up early.
Is Run It Like It’s Hot a timed event?
No, the event is not officially timed; however, clocks will be positioned at the start and finish lines so that you can time yourself.
What is included with my registration?
Included with your registration for the Adult Course is your official Run It Like It's Hot! T-shirt, bib number, course refreshments and finisher's swag bag full of goodies, coupons and samples from our sponsors. Runners participating in the Kids' Course will receive a medal in lieu of a T-shirt. Runners who register on race day will not receive a T-shirt.
I just like to watch.
No problem! Spectator passes are available at the registration site. Race participants and children under the age of 10 do not require a Spectator Pass.
Can I bring my pet or stroller?
No, we do not allow pets or strollers to join you in the race.
Is there a packet for the event? How does that work?
Packets will be available for pick-up at the registration table on the day of the race. You will need to have a picture ID and your signed waiver(s) with you at the time of registration. No participants will be allowed to run without a waiver!
Do you have cleaning stations for after the race?
Yes, wash stations will be provided, as well as separate changing tents for guys and gals.
Can I bring a bag for my change of clothes, and will there be someplace safe for me to leave it?
By all means. Run It Like It's Hot! will provide a secure gear check.
Will parking be provided, and is there a charge?
Ample parking is available; however, we do encourage carpooling as we are expecting large crowds. There is no fee for parking at the event.
Are there refunds?
No, unfortunately we cannot issue refunds. The logistics of setting up and planning the event make it impossible. Just make sure you are good to go before signing up.
Will the weather affect the event?
No, we will run rain or shine. The only way the run will be cancelled is in the event of unforeseen severe weather conditions such as a hurricane or tornado take place. In this case, we will send out an email as soon as we know informing every participant that the race is cancelled or postponed.
What should I bring?
You are going to be a muddy mess, so you will want to bring an extra change of clothes and shoes. It is going to be August and it is in Texas, so sunscreen is a must, and a hat should be considered.
